How does the Maximum Bid work?
If you see a Koi that you want to bid on that has a starting bid of €50, and you would like to submit a maximum bid of €100.00, you will enter €100.00 in the bid box and press BID. The system remembers that your maximum bid is €100.00 and so all bids between €50.00 (the starting bid) and your maximum bid will automatically increase by €5.00 over the next highest bid up to €100. Other users cannot see what your maximum bid is.
Example 1: (based on your max bid of €100)
The starting bid is €50.00.
John offers €55.00.
The system will automatically increase your bit to €60.00 as you have set €100.00 as the maximum bid.
Example 2: (based on your max bid of €100)
The starting bid is €50.00.
John bids €100.00 (the same as your maximum bid).
The system will automatically increase your bid to €100.00, as this was your maximum bid. However, as your bid was automatically raised via the max bid function, the person with the automatic bid has the “highest” bid. This means that if 2 people offer the same bid (1 automatic and 1 manual) the person with the automatic bid wins. This is how the system is programmed and therefore can not be modified.
Example 3: (based on your max bid of €100)
The starting bid is €50.00.
You have a max bid of €100.00 in place.
John offers €110.00.
Automatically, the system indicates that John has placed a higher bid. As your maximum bid of €100.00 has been outbid, the new bid will automatically be €105.00
John therefore has the highest bid.
Example 4:
Suppose the current bid is at €180.00.
You then want to enter a maximum bid of €255.00.
Then there is a chance that someone else has already entered a maximum bid of €250.00.
In this case, your automatic bid goes immediately to €255.00 and you are automatically the highest bidder. Watch this! All bids that are made can not be undone!
