How do I bid?

To bid on an item, type your maximum bid amount in the box provided, and click the “Bid” button. Your bid must be above the Minimum Bid amount specified in the box and in the increment specified (ex. If the increment is €5 and the current bid is €200, your bid could be €205, €210, €215, etc.).

You will be asked to confirm your bid.  Click OK to complete your bid.

One of the most common complaints that we received in the past, was that bidders did not have a chance to respond to “sniper” bids that were placed seconds before the scheduled end of the Auction, effectively “stealing” the Koi at the last minute. This situation has been resolved by a new feature that will automatically extend the auction by 60 minutes any time a “last minute” bid is placed, giving you ample time for a response.

Note: Maximum bid and proxy bid are the same things. To place a proxy bid, just enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay. Automatic bids will be placed for you up to your maximum amount. Using proxy bidding, you can win the item at the lowest possible price. Your maximum bid is only placed when a competing bidder bids the same amount. Please note that if the current high bidder’s maximum bid is higher than the bid you place, you are immediately outbid because your bid is not high enough to beat the earlier maximum bid. Remember: Proxy bidding will confidentially & automatically bid up to your maximum, but in order to avoid being outbid, you must have the highest maximum bid. Also, if another bidder placed a higher maximum bid, your bid will increase to your maximum bid because proxy bidding bids on your behalf up to your maximum bid.

What is a reserve price?

A reserve price is a hidden lowest price under which we do not allow the Koi to be sold.  This price is always lower than the estimated value.

We accept bids below the reserve, but those bids cannot win the auction.

If you are the highest bidder but there is a notice that the reserve has not been met, then you will not win the auction when it ends.

If there is no such notice, you will win the auction if you have the highest bid when it ends.

If you place a maximum bid at or above the reserve price, your leading bid will be the same amount as the reserve price. If you’re the first bidder on an auction with a reserve price of €100 and your maximum bid is €200, then your leading bid will be €100. If the auction has no reserve price, then your leading bid will be the lowest possible bid.

The reserve price is hidden until it is met. So before the bidding reaches the reserve price amount or higher, you won’t know that amount.

What is the “Estimated Value”?

The Estimated Value is the estimated retail price in Cyprus of the particular koi based on the quality (body shape, skin quality, colour quality) and size at the time it was listed for auction.  This value can go either up or down depending on how the Koi grows and develops over time.

How will I know if I win?

The successful winning bidder will receive email confirmation of their purchase when the auction is over. You will then have 60 minutes to pay for your purchase. Auctions that are not paid for within this time period are subject to forfeit.

Koi Auctions accepts payment via PayPal ONLY.

How do I get my koi after I win?

Auction winners have the option of picking up their koi from our facility in Limassol, or having their koi delivered to their door. Cost of delivery is €30.00 per box which includes packing and handling (Box, Ice packs, bags, etc.). For orders over €200 shipping is FREE.

Live Arrival Guarantee
